How to get singing
Installing Performous is very easy using the prebuilt packages. Just click the package and have it installed.
Packages
The latest release 0.3.0 is somewhat buggy and we recommend using the Git version instead. You have to build it from source, but it is really quite easy. See the developer page for instructions.
Performous
- Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex: performous in official repositories
- Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Hardy Heron: i386 amd64
- Debian Unstable: performous in official repositories
- OpenSUSE: packages
- Source code: universal
If you get an error about unsatisfied dependencies on Ubuntu, you may have to enable community-supported software source universe via System | Administration | Software Sources. Most users already have this enabled.
We also work on supporting more platforms. As soon as packages are created, they will be available here.
Free songs (ultrastar-songs)
- Ubuntu/Debian free/libre restricted
- OpenSUSE: free/libre + restricted
- Plain tarball free/libre + restricted
We have packaged a bunch of free songs in the ultrastar-songs package. Either install a package for your distro or download the plain tarball and extract that to .ultrastar folder in your home directory or to one of the other song folders (e.g. /usr/local/share/ultrastar). The songs package contains a folder named songs with the songs in it.
